Chris McGovern – Owner
Chris McGovern brings more than 25 years of experience to coaching. He started racing BMX at age 5 and moved on to road racing as a junior. Chris quickly moved through the ranks to spend numerous years on professional teams such as Zaxby’s, Jelly Belly, Health Net, and Sierra Nevada. Cycleution was started in 2008 with the goal of preparing athletes for the worst possible situations, yet teaching them to always envision the best situation. Chris currently resides in Nevada City, CA. where he is the owner of Real Wheels Bicycle Studio. Together with his wife Hollie, they run a full service shop with professional fitting services and CompuTrainer sessions as well. Before returning to his home town in Nevada City, Chris was living in Durango CO. and working as a the cycling coordinator and head coach of the Fort Lewis College Cycling Team, the #1 ranked cycling school in the country. Over the past few years Chris has worked with several organizations including Rad Racing NW and the NorCal High School Cycling League to continue growing his knowledge of developmental cycling.
Chris in recent years has been a coach of USA Cycling cyclocross programs in Europe, including the 2017 World Championships team in Bieles, Luxembourg.

Steve Fisher – Associate Coach
Steve comes to Cycleution as an associate coach after working with Chris as an athlete for the previous five years. Steve graduated from Western Washington University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science with a Sport Psychology Specialization. Steve is a USA Cycling licensed coach and a very accomplished rider. He began his career with a focus on cyclocross, which took him to Belgium many times as well as the World Championships as a junior. Steve has successfully moved his current focus to road racing where he has raced professionally with Jelly Belly for the past two seasons. Steve draws upon his wealth of experience to help a wide variety of racers reach their goals.
AJ Kennedy has been involved in the cycling since 1986. He began racing competitively at age 13. AJ enjoyed a successful period of racing, internationally as well as at the top level Nationally. The Junior National Level teams he’s ridden for include; Plymouth-Reebok Cycling Team, Team LeMond and Aristos Cycling Team. As an Elite Pro 1/2 level rider AJ spent a season riding for the Steelman Factory Racing Team before taking a break from racing competitively to pursue his professional career with his families Engineering Consulting Firm.
AJ returned to competitive racing in 2006. AJ believes that his experience both from his rich history in bike racing as a junior and his more recent experience returning to racing a decade later gives him great insight into what skills and techniques he can offer clients in addition to helping clients with training plans. “I believe that a successful endurance athlete should posses equal parts skill and knowledge of tactics and mechanics as well as a strong physical engine”. AJ believes that the coach-athlete relationship is paramount in being successful. AJ has his experience of 30 years coupled with the latest advancements in training to offer his clients.
AJ is excited to partner with Cycleution and Chris, his longtime friend and teammate from multiple teams. AJ will bring his skill set to the team of talented coaches and mentors and help clients achieve their goals. Aj races actively on the Road and at Cyclocross venues year round.
